Larry Bisbee has been writing poetry since the 1970s, was a deejay on commercial radio for many years and has been writing songs for six years in collaboration with Margaret Arsenault and Jim Littlefield, Jose Daniel, Ron Pineau, Ken Wentworth and Harry King, Billy and Kathy "G", Mike Kearney, John Wishlove and Ann Leblanc (Vancouver, BC), Les Rowell & The Shadowcasters, Jeanine Andreasen, Alan Hutchinson, Sandy Waite, Jim Palmer, Lew Caldwell, Bob Thibodeau and Ray Paul.

Can you believe this? "BUCK" got up and played AND sang his original song, " Cabin Fever" last summer at the Maine Countryfolk Music Theatre...
"BUCK" says, " Well folks, It want so pretty, probably didn't sound so good, but everyone clapped at the end"... Humm, that may be because they liked it, or because I was finished. "I'll always wonder about that".....

Jay is a friend of "Doc" Williams down in Wheelimg, WVA and hand-delivered one of "BUCK's" CDs to him. "BUCK" use to do promotional work for Doc and Chickie back in the 60s when they toured in Farmington, Maine...Thanks Jay!

Stand up tall, my veteran. Be proud of who you are.Yes stand up tall, my veteran. We too are proud. Proud of who you are!

So reads the chorus of an enlightening patriotic song, written by SouthParis native and military veteran Larry "Buck" Bisbee. The song now is rippling across radio airwaves, the internet, the nation and even throughout the world.

Although the holiday that honors our military heroes has recently come andgone this year, Bisbee insists that praise for veterans shouldn't be limitedto a single day. "Every day is Veterans' day," Bisbee said, during a telephone interview from his winter vacation hideaway in Arizona.

Bisbee grew up in South Paris, and was a member of the last graduating Paris High School in 1960." That was a long, long time ago," Bisbee said with a laugh. Following high school, he traveled to Boston to enroll in broadcastingschool and has been involved with the music industry ever since. Last year he decided to write a patriotic song in tribute to the country's military veterans, entitled "Stand Up Tall My Veteran.""This song is for all veterans of all wars and their families," Bisbee said." For all those who have suffered the sacrifices of our military men andwomen."

Working with arranger/composer Harry King of Winthrop, and country singer Ken Wentworth, of Bangor, Bisbee added music and a voice to his lyrics and now the song is quickly sweeping across the country." Both of these talented musicians are well known in the music industry," Bisbee said of King and Wentworth. "Ken is a singer who performed with Maine's own Dick Curless, and Harry has worked with many notable singers including Englebert Humperdink among others."

Bisbee's song was recently released, just in time for Veterans' Day. According to Bisbee, it has been receiving steady air play in New York,Tennessee, and Texas, as well as an international market overseas in Australia and New Zealand. In only the second day after being posted on Worldwide Soundclick Internetcharts, an online website that posts music, "Stand Up Tall" reached number 24, with well over 600 plays and download. The song has also been sent to every military and veteran organization in the United States, as well as radio stations from Alaska to Florida evento Europe." We've already received letters from vets and military bases thanking us for the song. It's a good feeling," Bisbee said.

No stranger to what if means to serve his country, Bisbee is a veteranhimself, having served in the United States Air Force during his younger years. "I wrote the song because I believed in it. We offer it for free to people because the song is not for profit. It's for veterans. We wanted people to have it for free," he explains. Stand Up Tall," along with more than a dozen of Bisbee's other works area vailable at the website. Bisbee spends the warmer Maine months in East Dixfield, where he operates the Countryfolk Music Theater from Memorial Day to Labor Day. The theater showcases local country music talent, and fans attend each show for free.Donations to the establishment are welcome, and the funds are redistributed in the form of student scholarships. Bisbee also owns a recording studio that encourages local musicians to record their work for free. "We don't charge them recording fees, the only cost is for supplies," Bisbeesays, adding that he feels it is important for such talent to get the chance to be heard and generate a fan base. With free recording sessions, and his song available for free on the internet, Bisbee hopes to support everyone from prospective performers to veterans of war.

LARRY "BUCK" BISBEE is a former radio broadcaster turned "Cowboy Poet", record producer/promoter, "Old West" Re-enactor www.yumavigilantes.com and is owner of the Countryfolk Music Theatre that offers a venue to showcase new and seasoned musicians and songwriters www.countryfolkmusic.com

Larry is actively involved in historical re-enactments, gunfighter exhibitions and "Cowboy Poetry" performance on both coasts and is working to develop continued growth in the Youth Country Music Scholarship Award Project which annualy gives music scholarships to deserving youth.

Larry started out in radio in 1967 at WKTJ in Farmington, Maine, just out of Broadcasting school in Boston. He worked there four different times over the next 35 years. The last time was in 2001 after a 20-year break. "You know, it all came back to me, just like riding a bicycle," he said, "and it was great fun over the years."

He reminisced about all the country singers he interviewed at the county fair each year, including ....JEANNIE C. RILEY, ......JOHNNY TILLOTSON..... and others. When "Doc" and CHICKIE WILLIAMS came to town back in the 60's, Larry was the front man, setting up the promos and advertising for them.

He has worked on stage in theatre productions in Europe and the USA and acted in the 1993 movie, Stargate, with Kurt Russell in California..

He is now working with independent artists in Maine at his Countryfolk Music Theatre, supporting their efforts for a musical career in any way he can. Larry's free, traditional country, bluegrass and gospel "Country Sundays" show draws 20-40 musicians and songwriters each week (they've had as many as 58), and net profits from the sale of CDs on their website (from local artists) support the annual Youth Country Music Scholarship Awards ($500.00 - $1000.00 ).

In 2003, ..Larry, in cooperation with Dick Stevens of MBTV-11 in Farmington, Maine, ...helped develop Musicians of Maine TV Show,.... to offer Maine musicians and songwriters a statewide venue to showcase their talent. Larry's songwriting progressed over the years and in 2002 he released his first CD entitled "Country Kissin". Larry wrote the lyrics and Jim Littlefield and Margaret Arsenault ...(aka Nickels and Dimes) did the music and arranging. The popular song,.... "Old Uncle Henry's",..... received second place honors for Folk Song of the Year by the Downeast CMA
www.decma.org in 2003. Nickels and Dimes also received awards as Duo of the Year singing two of Larry's original songs, with music and arrangements by Jim and Margaret.

In 2004, his song "Old Saddlebag Joe" won top honors as the Maine "Folk Song Of The Year", once again with Jim and Margaret doing the music, arranging and vocals.

Larry has a new CD called "BUCK Bisbee, "Purveyor Of Prairie Prose & Cowboy Poetry" and is working on a Downeast version of "My Cuzzin Larry's, Wicked Good Maine Stories", a full Cd of Maine tales and legends of real Maine folk.

He performs with the Yuma (Arizona) Vigilantes during the winter months and attends western gatherings throughout the west as a re-enactor of the "Old West" and "Cowboy Poet".

Larry feels it has been a great ride as a broadcaster, actor and songwriter and he now continues with talented musicians and "Old West" Re-enactors in Maine and Arizona.

Larry, in 2006, completed writing a 17,500 word screenplay for a feature-length movie to be filmed in Maine. It will support involve original songs and Indie musicians with any profits going directly to the Countryfolk Music Theatre youth music scholarship project.

they said it's his name
rode a bucktooth nag,
his name was the same......

They seemed to come from nowhere,
never a place to go
And even tho he had a whip,
the nag was always slow......

He was headed west past Tucson,
to feed his nag some grass
but they stole his saddle an all his clothes
when he crossed at Apache Pass.....

Well, they showed up in Ole Yuma,
not hardly a word to say
rode that nag thru the saloon doors
now I guess they came to play...

Up to the bar the old nag strolled,
and whispered in the barmaid's ear
"Set em up for the house an the ladies too,
but gimme a shot an a beer"........

Sittin' by the campfire
eatin' good chuckwagon stew
Watchin' for them varmits
as a storm begins to brew......

Ain't got time for drinkin'
no bottles of sudsy beer
Cause the cattle's runnin' restless
as they hear the thunder near.......

With a poncho on my shoulder
It's time to hunker down
Bossman's on the watch right now
my turn will come around.......

Right now, I'm thinkin' bout a cowgirl
wearin' wranglers, oh skintight
Makes me want to head to dance
on a southwest Saturday night.......

I look out thru the foothills tho
blowin' sand is all I see
I know back at the saloon bar
a cowgirl waits for me......

Bossman says, "Ain't got time for heartaches
when it's herdin' time
We got a thousand cattle boys
our money's on the line".....

"Don't waste your time a'dreamin'
bout gals on the dancehall floor
I need your time, all your mind
and these cattle need ya more"......

I take my shift, make no rift
with the rainfall comin' down
I put that cowgirl outta mind
till I get back to that Arizona town.....

We got cattle call as the ole storm clears
All us dusty wranglers a'waitin' for a payday
some good ole western beer
Now, these Arizona cowboys are rough and tough they say
But when it comes to Saturday night
they ride to town to play.....

In the old saloon, drinkin' a beer,
singin' a cowboy song
They watch them girls with pretty curls
knowin' it's where they belong......

Cause they ride on the range
herdin' cattle all day
Ridin' and ropin'
for a cattleman's pay........

There's cussin' and spittin'
In this gun-totin town
On Saturday nights, the good, the bad
and the beautiful
They all come around.........

Now guns are a'flashin', knives are a'slashin
As a fight moves out to the street
This bordertown, well-known around
as the place where gunfighters meet.....

Now, we were packin' guns an leather
But decided to ride on out together
Lightnin' flashed, thunder rolled
our horses shook and trembled
in that God-forsaken weather......

Cattle call was six am
We rolled in just in time
Bossman said, "You got time for coffee boys
Then get them doggies back in line".....

But right now, I'm thinkin' bout a cowgirl
wearin' wranglers, oh skintight
Makes me just remember that calico and denim
that was in my arms last night.....

I look out thru the foothills tho

But I know back at the saloon bar
